Most distilleries produce the same type of whisky, primarily stored in one or a few types of casks. However, Benriach creates three types of whisky, which they age in numerous casks from around the world. This diversity provides Master Blender Rachel Barrie with an extensive toolbox as she develops and experiments with the many possibilities of their whisky. From the four stills, Benriach annually produces well over two million liters of new make spirit. This includes lightly peated spirit in the classic Speyside style, heavily peated, and also triple-distilled spirit. These styles, combined with highly active cask management and aging in a variety of barrels, make Benriach the most multifaceted distillery in Speyside, and probably all of Scotland.
As stipulated in the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897, a “bonded” whiskey must be distilled by a single distillery during a single season, matured in a government bonded warehouse for at least four years and bottled at 100 proof/50% alc.
Jack Daniel’s Bonded is Jack’s time-honoured recipe of 80% corn, 12% malted barley and 8% rye. Barrels are carefully selected for their unique and special characteristics with deeper color, taste and aroma. It brings a darker, richer and more oak-forward character to Jack Daniel’s Bonded. It’s a big, bold 100 proof Tennessee Whiskey with layered notes of caramel, rich oak and spice that give way to a pleasantly long finish.
Agitator Single Malt Whisky Smoke is, in many ways, a special whisky. Swedish peated whisky is less common because there is no Swedish producer that can deliver peated malt on the scale required for whisky production. Furthermore, the combination of casks that this whisky has been aged in is truly unique. Casks that previously held peated Islay whisky, combined with spicy chestnut casks, create a completely untried recipe. Agitator Single Malt Whisky Smoke is primarily for those who enjoy bold flavors, where smoke and peat dominate. It is primarily a whisky to be enjoyed neat, but it also invites experimentation in cocktails where a touch of smoke and salt is desired.
